Outdoor Photographer’s challenge two weeks ago: an environmental, visual or cultural photo depicting a strong connection with a specific place. Here, our hostess at her ger in the Mongolian countryside prepares a pot of suutei tsai to take the chill off an October night – piping hot milk with a little tea and a dash of salt.
Oh my. Your photos are really incredible. I love following your blog. Can’t say I know anyone else living in Mongolia!!!
Thanks for the compliment! We’re back in Alaska, of course, but yes, from August 2014 to May 2016 we lived in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia which was a fascinating experience.
Oh!!! I’m sorry, I did know you were in Alaska! In any case, I get to live vicariously through your stories and beautiful photos!
Fantastic! Would love to have sampled a mug of her suutei tsai tea in her ger.
Neither one of us are milk drinkers – but we grew to enjoy this beverage and the welcoming it symbolized.
