Jack and Barbra
I will NEVER forget our night in 2016. I am anxious but hopeful
that common sense and logic will not be defeated. Many of us are united
in spirit from distances across America as we wait for the final counts.
Love and Peace to you both
Debra
Having been through that sort of profound disappointment in 2016, last night wasn’t quite as bad. But what a disappointment. Nice to hear from you, Deb.
Having moved from Seattle to San Antonio I know first hand how deep the cult of Trumpism runs here. However there are many bright blue spots dotting this city and state.Something tells me decency and kindness will rule this day.Peace and bright light to you both.

P.S. Someone needs to explain to me how Mexico elected a Woman who is Jewish no less, as I am, and half of the voting public in America loves a dictator/psychopath??????
HI, I just stumbled on your blog after googling the correct way to harvest and cook fiddleheads and then harvest spruce tips, I’ve been doing it wrong over the years. I’m on kodiak island, and have lived here many years. So I just saw your last post was on nov. 5 2024. how are you doing now? I’m in absolute shock and disgust at where we are as a nation. 😦 however I’m lifted up by my fellow protesters.
Good Morning from Cordova, Alaska Debra. Glad you found us! Kodiak is on a short list of places we hope to get to in the not-too-distant future. As for as our lives post election… Though we voted for Kamala, we had predicted Trump would win… and life goes on. Hopefully balance of some sort will be restored in the 2026 mid-term elections. For that to happen, Democrats are going to have to figure out who they are… “All things to all people” isn’t working. Alternatively, perhaps more Independents will be on ballots; or a reasonable Third Party will emerge.
Barbra will wrap up the teaching year in a couple of weeks. I continue to work every day on an extensive photo project which I hope will lead to gallery interest. The big summer project we’re looking forward to is putting together a Cookbook inspired by living well off the beaten path in Bush Alaska. Most of Cutterlight’s six thousand plus followers initially discovered us through our food articles. We haven’t been publishing a lot lately, but once I’ve finished this photography project and Barbra is finished with school for the year, we hope to begin offering regular articles once again. So stay tuned and let us know what you think, Debra! Jack

Regrettably, this election went the way I had thought for some time that it would.
Anxiously waiting with you . . .
